It is worth remembering that an\nexemption is not an exclusion and the child may choose to study Irish at any\npoint in the future.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It\nshould not be assumed that this child will not be able to study a foreign\nlanguage.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We\nrecommend that all staff working with this student are informed of his\/her\ndifficulties.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It\nwill be important to remember that this student\u2019s written work may not be an\naccurate reflection of his\/her ability<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>This\nchild may benefit from a simple summary of the class content.&nbsp; This is especially important if there is a\nlot of information in the lesson.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It\nmay be helpful to this child if his\/her written work is marked on content\nas opposed to spelling or grammar.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It\nmay be helpful for this child to submit information in bullet points.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>This\nchild could be allowed to record his\/her homework using a Dictaphone or\nvoice recognition software.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>This\nchild may have difficulty expressing him\/herself orally.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>This\nchild may take longer to process oral instructions and\/or find\ncomplex instructions difficult to follow.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>This\nchild may need to be required to do less writing as part of their homework.&nbsp; It will be a balancing act to decide how much\nis enough and may take time to establish.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Visual aids like mind mapping, visual timetables\nand colour coding may help this child.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>This\nchild may be entitled to a school grant for technology to help him\/her\naccess the curriculum.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>He\/she\nmay have difficulty with organisation and may require extra support in this\narea.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>He\/she\nmay need longer than the rest of the class to copy from the whiteboard\nand to complete assignments.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We\nsuggest that this child is not asked to read aloud in class until he\/she\nis comfortable with same.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We\nrecommend that he\/she are not excluded from any subjects that he\/she is\ninterested in.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>He\/she\nmay be very tired because of the extra effort involved in completing\nwork.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>This\nchild may benefit from a reduction in external distractions while\nworking.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It\nwill be important that, while staff have an understanding of the child\u2019s\ndifficulties and that these difficulties are not used by the child as an\nexcuse not to attempt or complete work.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>This\nchild may be a very strong visual or auditory learner.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>There\nare specific apps available for children with SLD which may help.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Two IEPs have been written for this child for\neach year of their placement here.&nbsp;
