In drafting this policy,\nthe board of management of Saint Oliver Plunkett special primary school has\nconsulted with school staff, the school patron and with parents of children\nattending the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The policy was approved\nby the school patron on 30<sup>th<\/sup> September 2020. It is published on the\nschool\u2019s website and will be made available in hardcopy, on request, to any\nperson who requests it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The relevant\ndates and timelines for St. Oliver Plunkett N.S. admission process are set out\nin the school\u2019s annual admission notice which is published annually on the\nschool\u2019s website at least one week before the commencement of the admission\nprocess for the school year concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>Characteristic spiritual objectives of the school<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>ST. Oliver Plunkett N.S. is a Catholic special educational and co-educational\nprimary school with a Catholic Ethos under the patronage of the Archbishop of\nDublin Diarmuid Martin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCatholic Ethos\u201d in\nthe context of a Catholic primary school means the ethos and characteristic\nspirit of the Roman Catholic Church, which aims at promoting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the full and harmonious development of<br>all aspects of the person of the pupil, including the intellectual, physical,<br>cultural, moral and spiritual aspects; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a living relationship with God and with<br>other people; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a philosophy of life inspired by belief<br>in God and in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the formation of the pupils in the<br>Catholic faith,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>and which school provides religious education for the pupils in\naccordance with the doctrines, practices and traditions of the Roman Catholic\nChurch, and\/or such ethos and\/or characteristic spirit as may be determined or\ninterpreted from time to time by the Irish Episcopal Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In accordance with S.15 (2) (b) of the Education Act, 1998 the\nBoard of Management of St. Oliver Plunkett School shall uphold, and be\naccountable to the patron for so upholding, the characteristic spirit of the\nschool as determined by the cultural, educational, moral, religious, social,\nlinguistic and spiritual values and traditions which inform and are characteristic\nof the objectives and conduct of the school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mission Statement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; We seek to assist all children to reach their full potential by\ncreating a warm, caring, inclusive, yet highly structured, environment in which\neach child is treated as a unique individual with their own special talents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; We seek to improve the literacy levels of each child in the\nareas of reading accuracy, reading comprehension, spelling and writing to\nenable them to be better equipped to cope with the demands of mainstream education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; We endeavour to ensure that each child, and each member of\nstaff, will have the opportunity to grow intellectually, spiritually and\nemotionally while a member of our school community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due consideration is taken with regard to the rights of the Patron\nas set out in the Education Act and the funding and resources available in the\nschool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>St. Oliver Plunkett N.S. is a Catholic school but all children,\nof other religions and none, are welcome, in accordance with the Equal Status\nAct 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>Admission Statement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>St. Oliver\nPlunkett School supports the principals of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inclusiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Equality\nof access and participation in the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parental\nchoice in relation to enrolment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and will\nnot discriminate in its admission of a student to the school on any of the\nfollowing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the gender ground of the student or<br>the applicant in respect of the student concerned,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the civil status ground of the student<br>or the applicant in respect of the student concerned,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the family status ground of the<br>student or the applicant in respect of the student concerned,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the sexual orientation ground of the<br>student or the applicant in respect of the student concerned,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the religion ground of the student or<br>the applicant in respect of the student concerned,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the disability ground of the student<br>or the applicant in respect of the student concerned,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the ground of race of the student or<br>the applicant in respect of the student concerned,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the Traveller community ground of the<br>student or the applicant in respect of the student concerned, or <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the ground that the student or the<br>applicant in respect of the student concerned has special educational needs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As\nper section 61 (3) of the Education Act 1998, \u2018civil status ground\u2019, \u2018disability\nground\u2019, \u2018discriminate\u2019, \u2018family status ground\u2019, \u2018gender\nground\u2019, \u2018ground of race\u2019, \u2018religion ground\u2019,&nbsp;\n\u2018sexual orientation ground\u2019 and \u2018Traveller community ground\u2019 shall be\nconstrued in accordance with section 3 of the Equal Status Act 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>St. Oliver Plunkett School is a school whose objective is\nto provide education in an environment which promotes certain religious values\nand does not discriminate where it refuses to admit as a student a person who\nis not Roman Catholic and it is proved that the refusal is essential to\nmaintain the ethos of the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Special Educational School<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>\n  <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>\n  &nbsp;\n  The\n  Board of Management of St. Oliver Plunkett has regard for the Enrolment Criteria for Reading\n  Schools.&nbsp; These enrolment criteria and\n  procedures are in accordance with the Education Act 1998 and the guidelines\n  laid down by the Department of Education &amp; Skills. &nbsp;\n  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \n  The school depends on\n  the grants and teacher resources, provided by the Department of Education\n  &amp; Skills and operates within the regulations laid down from time to time\n  by the Department.&nbsp; The school follows\n  the curricular programmes prescribed by the Department of Education &amp;\n  Skills (except for the teaching of Irish) as well as a specialised literacy\n  programme.\n  &nbsp;\n  The Board of\n  Management trusts that this policy will assist parents in relation to\n  enrolment matters. Furthermore, the chairperson and the principal will be\n  happy to clarify any further matters arising from this policy.\n  &nbsp;\n  There are common\n  procedures for enrolment \/ application to each of the three Reading Schools\n  in Dublin.&nbsp; These were agreed by the 3\n  schools, the DOES and NEPs. \n  St Oliver Plunkett\n  National School, Monkstown follows these common procedures.\n  &nbsp;\n  &nbsp;\n  &nbsp;\n  <strong>COMMON\n  ENROLMENT CRITERIA FOR READING SCHOOLS.<\/strong>\n  &nbsp;\n  Assessment\n  by a psychologist on a standardised test of intelligence should place general\n  intellectual ability within the average range or above.\n  &nbsp;\n  The\n  assessment must not be more than two years old.\n  &nbsp;\n  There\n  should be an obvious discrepancy between general intellectual ability and\n  performance on a standardised test of reading ability.\n  &nbsp;\n  Discrepancy\n  between verbal and not-verbal abilities, one of either the verbal or\n  performance scores should be within the average range and the combined scores\n  should indicate ability within the average range.\n  &nbsp;\n  Performance\n  in basic literacy skills as measured by a standardised test should be at a\n  very low level compared to the vast majority of children in a similar age\n  cohort.\n  &nbsp;\n  The\n  pupil should have completed second class in primary school or be at least\n  eight years old and not more than twelve on enrolment.\n  &nbsp;\n  Consideration\n  should also be given to the child\u2019s speaking, writing, spelling &amp;\n  comprehension skills as well as to his\/her social and personal development.\n  &nbsp;\n  &nbsp;\n  &nbsp;\n  &nbsp;\n  Evidence\n  of SLD, as defined by the Department of Education &amp; Skills, is the\n  primary difficulty of the child.\n  &nbsp;\n  Placement\n  in a reading school should be one of the options recommended by the\n  psychologist.\n  &nbsp;\n  In\n  September, the principal will report to the Board of Management of Catherine\n  McAuley N.S., St Oliver Plunkett N.S or St Roses N.S. that procedures for\n  enrolment were followed.\n  &nbsp;\n  &nbsp;\n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>Categories of Special Educational Needs catered for in the\nschool<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>\n  &nbsp;\n  St.\n  Oliver Plunkett NS with the approval of the Minister for Education and\n  Skills, is a school catering for children with Specific Reading\n  Difficulties\/Dyslexia. Children who attend have been assessed as having a Specific Learning Difficulty,\n  (Dyslexia). \n  &nbsp;\n  Because\n  of the needs of the children, special emphasis is placed on the teaching of\n  reading, writing, spelling and the development of good oral language skills.\n  <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>\n  Classes\n  range from 3rd to 6<sup>th<\/sup> and enrolment is normally for two years.\n  <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>\n  Pupils\n  must be eight years of age by 1<sup>st<\/sup> September in the year of\n  enrolment or have completed second class.\n  &nbsp;\n  There\n  are seven classes in the school and the pupil\n  teacher ratio is 9:1\n  <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>\n  <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>\n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>Admission of Students<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nschool shall admit each student seeking admission except where \u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the school is oversubscribed (please see <a href=\"#_Oversubscription_(this_section\">section<br>6<\/a> below for further<br>details)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a parent of a student, when required by<br>the principal in accordance with section 23(4) of the Education (Welfare) Act<br>2000, fails to confirm in writing that the code of behaviour of the school is<br>acceptable to him or her and that he or she shall make all reasonable efforts<br>to ensure compliance with such code by the student<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a<br>student does not have a Specific Reading difficulty. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>   &nbsp;   How to apply and the enrolment procedure   &nbsp;   \u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;   An application consists of a   copy of the child\u2019s most recent educational psychological report which states   that the psychologist recommends applying to the reading schools. The report   can be sent by the parent or the school (with the permission of the parents).   All contact details of school and parents should be contained in this   application. Inaccurate or falsified information could result in the child   not being offered a place.   &nbsp;   \u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;   The closing date for receipt of   applications will be 5.00pm on the day before the school closes for Christmas   holidays. For example, applications for the school year 2021-2022 will close   on December 21<sup>st<\/sup>, 2020 at 5.00pm. This will allow time to process the   applications and to give parents adequate opportunity to find an alternative   placement should the application be unsuccessful.   &nbsp;       All        applications received after that date will go forward for consideration        for the following year.      &nbsp;       When        applications are received they are acknowledged, by letter, and placed        in a file in the order in which they are received. They are date stamped        and a cover sheet for each applicant is completed.       &nbsp;       Each        application will be considered under the criteria and a list of eligible        children will be drawn up.       &nbsp;   A list will be prepared of   eligible children up to and including those on the 5<sup>th<\/sup> Percentile   for Word Reading, and places will be offered in ascending order.    Successful applicants will be informed in the        first half of the second term.         &nbsp;       The school principal of the school that the child        is currently enrolled in will be informed of the intention to offer a        place.      &nbsp;       A pro forma report is sent to the school principal        requesting a report on the child\u2019s progress at school.      &nbsp;       Further information may be requested from        psychologist, school, parents\/guardian and other relevant agencies.      &nbsp;       The parents of successful applicants are sent a        detailed brochure about the school and an appointment time to visit.        They are not obliged to visit and places will not be withheld if parents        do not attend these meetings. (Appendix 2)      &nbsp;       Parents visit the school in a small group and meet        with the principal and members of the BOM and Parent association. They        also fill out relevant forms at this meeting. The children do not attend        this meeting. (Appendix 3)      &nbsp;       Parents will be offered a period of 10 school days        to decide on accepting places in writing (Appendix 4).      &nbsp;   &nbsp;   &nbsp;       Successful applicants are placed on the Aladdin        School Management System). Relevant information will be forwarded to the        POD (Primary On-line Database on enrolment.      &nbsp;       The meetings with parents take place during the 2<sup>nd<\/sup>term        after places have been offered.      &nbsp;       Places cannot be deferred to the following year(s)              &nbsp;   &nbsp;   <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>   <strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Enrolment for   a Third Year<\/strong>   &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Addendum May 2002   <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>   In certain circumstances a third year may be   offered where:   &nbsp;   Reading   scores on standardised assessment tests are significantly below expected   levels of attainment.   &nbsp;   The   child\u2019s rate of progress across all literacy areas is very low. And the   child\u2019s scores at the end of year two, if he\/she were to apply for initial   placement, would meet the criteria for enrolment.   &nbsp;   In   addition to school administered standardised tests, the principal will test   reading ability using the Wechsler Objective Reading Dimension Test for   Teachers (WORD)   &nbsp;   The   child\u2019s teacher, parents and principal have all been consulted and agree that   a third year is necessary.   &nbsp;   The   BOM have received, through the principal, a written request from   parents\/guardians for their child to be considered for a third year.   &nbsp;   Offers of a third year are entirely at the discretion of the Board of Management.      If   a child, through continuing illness or other medical reasons, has missed a   lot of school, a request for a third year may be considered.   &nbsp;       The names of possible third year candidates are        sent to the principal by class teachers, after Christmas, and parents        are invited to consider if they wish to make a formal application. These        children will then be tested by the principal. These children will be        tested in January.       &nbsp;   &nbsp;   &nbsp;   <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>St. Oliver Plunkett National School is a\nCatholic school and may refuse to admit as a student a person who is not of the\nCatholic faith where it is proved that the refusal is essential to maintain the\nethos of the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<\/strong><strong>Oversubscription<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In\nthe event that the school is oversubscribed, the school will, when deciding on\napplications for admission, apply the following selection criteria in the order\nlisted below to those applications that are received within the timeline for\nreceipt of applications as set out in the school\u2019s annual admission notice: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>\n  <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>\n  In the event of oversubscription\n  on any of the percentile ranks, the children will be prioritised by age, with\n  the older children being offered places first.\n  &nbsp;\n  \n   A\n       waiting list is created. This list is numbered and parents are kept\n       informed of where they are on the list. Initially this is communicated\n       by telephone and as the situation becomes clearer they are informed in\n       writing in the second half of term 2. Places only become available by a\n       parent\/guardian deciding not to send a child to the school.\n  \n  &nbsp;\n  \n   Enrolment\n       is strictly adhered to as detailed in the enrolment policy. There are almost\n       always more candidates then places.\n  \n  &nbsp;\n  \n   Please\n       note the school does not operate on a \u201cfirst come first served \u201cbasis.\n  \n  &nbsp;\n  In the event that there are two\n  or more students tied for a place with matching selection criteria and\n  percentile ranking, the children will be prioritised by age, with the older\n  child being offered a place first.\n  &nbsp;\n  &nbsp;\n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>7.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>What will not be considered for admission<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In accordance with\nsection 62(7) (e) of the Education Act, the school will not consider any of the\nfollowing in deciding on applications for admission or when placing a student\non a waiting list for admission to the school:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>\n  &nbsp;\n  a student\u2019s prior attendance at a\n  pre-school or pre-school service, including na\u00edonra\u00ed, \n  &nbsp;\n  the payment of fees or contributions\n  (howsoever described) to the school; \n  &nbsp;\n  the occupation, financial status,\n  academic ability, skills or aptitude of a student\u2019s parents;\n  &nbsp;\n  a requirement that a student, or his\n  or her parents, attend an interview, open day or other meeting as a condition\n  of admission; \n  &nbsp;\n  a student\u2019s connection to the school\n  by virtue of a member of his or her family attending or having previously attended\n  the school;\n  &nbsp;\n  &nbsp;\n  &nbsp;\n  the date and time on which an\n  application for admission was received by the school, \n  &nbsp;\n  This\n  is subject to the application being received at any time during the period\n  specified for receiving applications set out in the admission notice of the\n  school for the school year concerned.\n  This\n  is also subject to the school making offers based on existing waiting lists.\n  &nbsp;\n  &nbsp;\n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>8.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>Decisions on applications <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a general rule and\nin so far as practicable having regard to this admission policy, children will\nbe enrolled on application, provided that the child meets with enrolment\ncriteria for reading schools and there is space available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All decisions on applications\nfor admission to St. Oliver Plunkett will be based on the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Our<br>school\u2019s admission policy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The<br>school\u2019s annual admission notice (where applicable)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The<br>information provided by the applicant in the<br>school\u2019s official application form received during the period specified in our<br>annual admission notice for receiving applications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(Please see <a href=\"#_Procedures_for_admission\">section\n1<\/a>4 below in relation to applications received\noutside of the admissions period.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selection criteria that are not included in our school admission policy\nwill not be used in the decision making on an application for a place in our\nschool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>9.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>Notifying applicants of decisions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants will be informed in writing as to the decision of the\nschool, within the timeline outlined in the annual admissions notice. (See section 5 enrolment\nprocedures)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If a student is not offered a place in our school, the reasons\nwhy they were not offered a place will be communicated in writing to the\napplicant, including, where applicable, details of the student\u2019s ranking\nagainst the selection criteria and details of the student\u2019s place on the\nwaiting list for the school year concerned. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants will be\ninformed of the right to seek a review\/right of appeal of the school\u2019s decision\n(see <a href=\"#_Reviews\/appeals\">Section\n18<\/a> below for further\ndetails).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>10.\n<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<a>Acceptance of an offer\nof a place by an applicant<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In accepting an offer of admission from St. Oliver Plunkett you must\nindicate\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(i) whether or not you have accepted an offer of admission for\nanother school or schools. If you have accepted such an offer, you must also provide\ndetails of the offer or offers concerned and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(ii) whether or not you have applied for and awaiting\nconfirmation of an offer of admission from another school or schools, and if\nso, you must provide details of the other school or schools concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>11. <\/strong><strong>Circumstances in which offers may not be made or may be\nwithdrawn<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>An offer of admission may not be made or may be withdrawn by St.\nOliver Plunkett where\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>it is established that information contained in the application is false or misleading.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an applicant fails to confirm acceptance of an offer of admission on or before the date set out in the annual admission notice of the school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the parent of a student, when required by the principal in accordance with section 23(4) of the Education (Welfare) Act 2000, fails to confirm in writing that the code of behaviour of the school is acceptable to him or her and that he or she shall make all reasonable efforts to ensure compliance with such code by the student; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an applicant has failed to comply with the requirements of \u2018acceptance of an offer\u2019 as set out in <a href=\"#_Acceptance_of_an\">section 10<\/a> above.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The psychological report does not place the child within the average range of ability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As evidenced in the psychological assessment the SLD\/Dyslexia is not the primary difficulty of the child.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The child\u2019s performance in basic literacy skills as measured by a standardised test is above the level accepted for enrolment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Children should be eight years old and not more than twelve on the first day of the school year. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Parents are informed that this decision of the Board of Management may\nbe appealed under section 29 of the Education Act within 45 days of receipt of\na refusal letter. See Section 18<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>12. <\/strong><strong>Sharing of Data with other schools<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants should be\naware that section 66(6) of the Education (Admission to Schools) Act 2018\nallows for the sharing of certain information between schools in order to\nfacilitate the efficient admission of students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Section\n66(6) allows a school to provide a patron or another board of management with a\nlist of the students in relation to whom\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(i) an application for admission to the\nschool has been received,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(ii)\nan offer of admission to the school has been made, or<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(iii)\nan offer of admission to the school has been accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nlist may include any or all of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\n(i) the date on which an application for admission was received by the school;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(ii)\nthe date on which an offer of admission was made by the school;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(iii)\nthe date on which an offer of admission was accepted by an applicant;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(iv) a student\u2019s personal details\nincluding his or her name, address, date of birth and personal public service\nnumber (within the meaning of section 262 of the Social Welfare Consolidation\nAct 2005).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>\n  &nbsp;\n  <a><strong>Provision of Key Information by\n  Parents for admission of students<\/strong><\/a><strong><\/strong>\n  &nbsp;\n  A Pupil Registration Form is provided\n  to parents when children are being enrolled in the school.&nbsp; This information includes:\n  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \n  \n   Pupil\u2019s Name &amp; Address\n   Names &amp; Address of Parents\/Guardians\n   Contact telephone numbers and telephone numbers in\n       case of emergency\n   Details of any medical conditions \n   Previous schools attended and reasons for transfer\n       and all details relevant for POD (Primary Online Database)\n   Any other relevant information (including\n       information as may be prescribed under the Education welfare Act (2000)\n       or Education for People with Special Needs (2004)\n  \n  &nbsp;\n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>13. <\/strong><strong>Waiting list in the event of oversubscription<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the event of there being more applications to the school year\nconcerned than places available, a waiting list of students whose applications\nfor admission to St. Oliver Plunkett School were unsuccessful due to the school\nbeing oversubscribed will be compiled and will remain valid for the school year\nin which admission is being sought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Placement on the waiting list of St. Oliver Plunkett School is\nin the order of priority assigned to the students\u2019 applications after the\nschool has applied the selection criteria in accordance with this admission\npolicy.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants whose applications are received after the closing\ndate, outlined in the Admission Notice, will be placed at the end of the\nwaiting list in order of the date of receipt of the application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Offers of any subsequent places that become available for and\nduring the school year in relation to which admission is being sought will be\nmade to those students on the waiting list, in accordance with the order of\npriority in relation to which the students have been placed on the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>14. <\/strong><strong>Late Applications<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All applications for\nadmission received after the closing date as outlined in the annual admission notice\nwill be considered and decided upon in accordance with our school\u2019s admissions policy,\nthe Education Admissions to School Act 2018 and any regulations made under that\nAct. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Late applicants will be\nnotified of the decision in respect of their application no later than three\nweeks after the date on which the school received the application.&nbsp; Late applicants will be considered for\nplacement in the following school year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>15.\n<\/strong><strong>Declaration in relation to the non-charging of Admission\nfees<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The board of St. Oliver Plunkett or any\npersons acting on its behalf will not charge fees for or seek payment or\ncontributions (howsoever described) as a condition of-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>an application for admission of a student<br>to the school, or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the admission or continued enrolment of a<br>student in the school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>16. <\/strong><strong>&nbsp;Arrangements\nregarding students not attending religious instruction <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>\n  &nbsp;\n  The\n  following are the school\u2019s arrangements for students, where the parent<s>s<\/s>\n  or in the case of the student who has reached the age of 18 years, the\n  student , who has requested that the student attend the school without\n  attending religious instruction in the school.&nbsp; These arrangements will not result in a\n  reduction in the school day of such students:\n  &nbsp;\n  A\n  written request for this arrangement should be made to the Principal of the school.&nbsp; A meeting will then be arranged with the Parent\/Guardians\n  or the student, as the case may be, to discuss how the request may be\n  accommodated by the school.\n  &nbsp;\n  &nbsp;\n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>17.&nbsp;\n<\/strong><strong>Reviews\/appeals<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Review of decisions by the board of\nManagement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The parent of the student may request\nthe board to review a decision to refuse admission. Such requests must be made\nin accordance with Section 29C of the Education Act 1998.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The timeline within which such a\nreview must be requested and the other requirements applicable to such reviews\nare set out in the procedures determined by the Minister under section 29B of\nthe Education Act 1998 which are published on the website of the Department of\nEducation and Skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The board will conduct such reviews in\naccordance with the requirements of the procedures determined under Section 29B\nand with section 29C of the Education Act 1998.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:&nbsp; <\/strong>Where an applicant has been refused\nadmission due to the school being oversubscribed, the applicant <strong>must\nrequest a review<\/strong> of that decision by the board of management prior to\nmaking an appeal under section 29 of the Education Act 1998.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where an applicant has been refused\nadmission due to a reason other than the school being oversubscribed, the\napplicant <strong>may request a review<\/strong> of that decision by the board of\nmanagement prior to making an appeal under section 29 of the Education Act\n1998.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Right\nof appeal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Appeals should first be made to the Board of Management and following\ndissatisfaction with this decision a further appeal can be made to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Section 29 Appeals Administration Unit&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The Department of Educational <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friars Mill Road&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nMullingar&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nCounty Westmeath<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under Section 29 of the Education Act\n1998, the parent of the student, or in the case of a student who has reached\nthe age of 18 years, the student, may appeal a decision of this school to\nrefuse admission.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An appeal may be made under Section 29\n(1) (c) (i) of the Education Act 1998 where the refusal to admit was due to the\nschool being oversubscribed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An appeal may be made under Section 29\n(1) (c) (ii) of the Education Act 1998 where the refusal to admit was due a\nreason other than the school being oversubscribed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where an applicant has been refused\nadmission due to the school being oversubscribed, the applicant <strong>must\nrequest a review<\/strong> of that decision by the board of management <strong>prior\nto making an appeal<\/strong> under section 29 of the Education Act 1998.
